The Launch Box Life with Uriel Hernandez
At The Launch Box, we are entrepreneurs serving entrepreneurs, but we took very different journeys to get here. In this series, readers will learn more about how we each live #thelaunchboxlife every day.
Uriel is an entrepreneur and finance management professional who has over 5 years of experience developing accurate business performance and financial assessments for a wide range of IT and retail companies. He enjoys generating deep insight that helps founders understand key drivers of financial execution and provides insight for strategic decision-making.
Explain your career path—how did you become a Financial Performance Analyst?
I’m someone who’s always on the lookout for new experiences and knowledge, defying my own limits, and who’s not compliant to follow the path everyone tells me should be followed. This has led me to make decisions and gain background and experience in retail and IT, working with companies like The Walt Disney Company and IBM, as well as becoming an entrepreneur myself in an eyewear retail business.
Can you describe your personal self?
As a Potterhead and Disney Geek, I love to describe myself as a creative, adaptable, and family-driven guy who loves to serve, think out of the box, and create unexpected magic everywhere I go.
What are your top personal values and how do you apply those to your work?
The key to truly making a difference and creating unexpected magic is through leadership, inclusion and teamwork with a common purpose. Because it’s not the magic that makes this business work - it’s the way we work that makes it magically happen.
Why did you choose to come to The Launch Box?
I joined The Launch Box team because I saw it as an opportunity to explore my full potential, participate in a multifunctional team that is determined to create a difference for our clients, and learn from leaders who dare to think outside of the box.
What is a common misconception you hear about Finance Performance?
Most people think Financial Performance is based only on Revenue, Cost, Expenses and Gross Profit, everything else is just data. However, the beauty of understanding this data is reading though the numbers and being able to translate the story the numbers are telling and the warnings for the future, which we as analysts are able to predict.
What is the most fulfilling part of your role at TLB?
I like being able to provide our business partners with useful insights that will help them make important decisions for the future performance of their firm.
What about the future of TLB are you most excited about?
I’m excited about our potential for growth and how helpful we’ll become for partners and professional services startups to reach their goals while we, together as a team, help inspire leaders for the years to come.
